Less of a rant, more of a whimper.
I don't know if there's anyone out there reading this site, but if there is, I'd like to apologise for not updating it during the last month and a half; I'm sorry. Here's why:
Where I live, temperatures since the beginning of July have been significantly higher than the normal averages of around 26ºC. In fact nearly every day (bar four) has seen temperatures of about 4 -7ºC above normal, some breaking records, and most only a degree or so from doing so. Not being one who functions well in the heat, I had initially decided to update the site when the weather returned to normal; ironically, it has yet to do so...
So, that got me depressed - a 4ºC rise was something that had been forecast for fifty to a hundred years time...
Of course, the naysayers will claim that statistically 'one' summer that's 5ºC hotter than 'normal' doesn't prove anything.
I don't know how much proof they need. To my mind, those that claim that there is insufficient evidence of man-made global warming are like patients who refuse to take the medication until they have seen their autopsy...
It's funny, I didn't know I could be depressed out of a stupor, but the latest news from Siberia, here, has just done that...
